About Anahat Music Therapy

Santosh with Savani

History of Anahat Music Therapy

Anahat Music Therapy embarked on its journey in 2011, in the city of Pune, India. It has a simple but powerful goal: to use the magic of Indian Classical Music to make people healthier and happier. The person behind this idea is Santosh Ghatpande, who had recently returned from the United States, armed with a certification in Music Therapy. Anahat was a dream to create an organisation that could unlock the healing potential of Indian Classical Music and bestow its magical powers upon the people of India. This incredible journey was not one to be traveled alone. His wife, Sawani, a classical vocalist, joined this journey as the co-founder of Anahat.

Santosh was introduced to Hindustani Classical music at the age of 6, and it became an integral part of his academic journey. Music helped him excel in academics, including CS, LLB, and IIM, and also during his two decades of professional experience in various leadership roles in Finance, IT, and HR.

With music as his passion, alongside musical performances, he was always curious to explore other aspects of music beyond mere entertainment. During this exploration, he discovered the field of Music Therapy, initially in non-Indian cultures, and wanted to pursue it further, based on Indian Classical music. While pursuing certification in Music Therapy (combining music with the study of psychology and medicine), he completed over 100 case studies using the therapeutic power of music. He also sought to enhance his capabilities by completing NLP Practitioner and Life Coach certifications.

Since its foundation, Anahat has touched over 100,000 lives musically and achieved successful transformations in over 6,500 counselling assignments, including executive coaching, using music as a magical medium to bring about positive changes.
